As you probably know in June the WINGS thrift shop in Palatine burned to the ground. What you might not know is a little about WINGS. This is an organiztion started in 1985. WINGS is an acronym for "Women in Need Growing Stronger." They offer shelter and support services to women and children who have experienced homelessness or domestic violence. They are a wonderful organization and they are hoping to rebuild their Palatine store. And now thanks to Pepsi they might have a chance to do that!!! Pepsi is offering $250,000 to the winner of a contest they are sponsoring and you can help by voting for WINGS to be the recipient of this most generous cash donation!! To vote simply go online to www.refresheverything.com/wingsprogram and vote. This contest runs through August and you can vote once a day. A special thanks to all the downtown businesses who supported our 5th graders "World of Work" day. This is a day when each Greenbrier 5th grade student has the opportuniuty to work at a downtown business....everything from restaurants to salons to clothing shops. The kids had a wonderful time and we owe each business a big thanks! Make sure you check out the pictures on the Neighborhood Picture page..and support these businesses that support our school!! Be sure to click on the "Neighborly Referrals" page for a good local babysitter! I have a link on the 'School' page directly to the Greenbrier School web site. This is especially beneficial for those of you who do not currently have children at the school. You can keep in touch with school activities. Remember Market Day, too!!!
