GREAT NEWS!!! On November 5th, President Obama signed a bill extending and expanding the Homebuyer Tax Credit. This new version is even better than the original one! Like the original bill, this one also gives first time buyers a tax credit of up to $8000!! with no pay back...although there are income limits and other restrictions. This bill extends the closing deadline to April 30, 2010! But here is the even better news...this bill also gives current homeowners (who have lived in the home they are selling as a principal residence consecutively for 5 of the previous 8 years) a tax credit of up to $6500. when they purchase another home. Again there are income limits and the new home must close by April 30,2010. But isn't this great news!!! You can sell your home, buy another one and get a tax credit up to $6500.
